What RH Do I Need for Tobacco?
RH is relative humidity. For cigars, RH is vital because it affects how your cigars taste, light and burn.
Boveda comes in five RH levels for cigars—one to season a wood humidor and four more to protect cigars inside a humidor. The RH to choose depends on your humidor, your cigars and your climate.

Benefits of Boveda
No more hassle (or mess) of using distilled water, gels or beads. Enjoy maintenance-free cigar care with Boveda. Simply place Boveda in your humidor and close the lid, it’s that easy.
Fluctuating humidity levels cause cigars to lose essential oils and flavors. Preserve the craft of cigar makers who expertly blend tobaccos and perfectly balance the filler, binder and wrapper.
Boveda precise humidity control automatically restores and maintains humidity in any type of cigar storage—desktop humidors, cabinet humidors, travel humidors, wineadors, coolerdors and tupperdors.
You’ll experience a whole new level of smoke with Boveda-protected cigars. Boveda’s patented formula uses all natural salt and water to ensure an exact Relative Humidity (RH). Choose from four different RH (65%, 69%, 72% and 75%).

HOW IT WORKS
Precise, maintenance-free cigar care with Boveda all comes down to two all-natural ingredients: pure water and natural salts. Combining the two into a saturated solution, we then seal it into a packet we refer to as a water-vapor permeable “reverse osmosis” membrane.
This special membrane allows Boveda to provide 2-way humidity control for cigars. Boveda compensates the atmosphere inside your humidor. Whenever water vapor is needed, Boveda releases the cleanest and most purified humidity. Whenever there’s too much moisture in your humidor, Boveda absorbs the excess.
It’s the fastest and most efficient product on the market today to protect your cigars, and we stand by that claim 100% of the time.

Watch How To Set Up a Humidor
Before you add cigars to it, every wooden humidor needs to be seasoned to:- Prevent the wood from robbing your cigar’s essential moisture. (Seasoning raises the wood’s moisture level so it’ll be in equilibrium with your cigars.)
- Create a better seal for the lid, which keeps moisture from escaping.
- Use (1) Boveda Size 60 for every 25 TOTAL cigars your humidor can hold. Example: For a 100-cigar capacity humidor, use four (4) Size 60 Boveda at once.
- Remove your cigars from your humidor and move them into a closed Tupperware® container, cooler or a Humidor Bag with 69% Boveda.
- Place the 84% Boveda seasoning pack(s) inside your empty wooden humidor.
- Close the lid and don’t open the humidor for 14 days—no matter what your hygrometer readings are. (The wait is worth it. Trust us.)
- After 14 days, open your humidor, remove the Boveda seasoning pack(s) and discard them—they aren’t reusable.
- Move your cigars into your well-seasoned humidor and add new Boveda packs in your desired RH. This handy chart will help you choose the right RH for you.

- If you live in a dry climate or experience seasonal dryness, we recommend re-seasoning a wooden humidor one to two times a year.
Yes, if a wineador has wood trays and shelves, you should season the unit before adding cigars. Seasoning conditions the wood components inside the wineador. Remove the clear plastic overwrap before using. Do NOT open the humidity packet inside. Place the Boveda 84% packs inside an EMPTY unplugged electric cabinet/cooler. Close the door and don’t open the cabinet for 7 days. After 7 days, open the cabinet, remove the Boveda seasoning packs and discard them—they aren’t reusable. Move your items back in, plug in your cabinet & add new Boveda 69% RH maintenance pack (sold separately). NEVER MIX the 84% with any other %RH.
No. Boveda works best alone. If you were to use a wet sponge, crystals, gels, or beads along with Boveda, the Boveda would switch its focus from protecting your cigars to absorbing the high humidity of those unnecessary humidification devices. This would result in great sponges, but ruined cigars.
Now that you’re using Boveda in your humidor, you can toss away those other devices. They were merely humidifying your humidor, not providing precise 2-way humidity control. Remember, Boveda ADDS AND ABSORBS water vapor—whatever’s needed in your humidor. And when you use Boveda, you don’t have to add anything. Just slip it in your humidor and Boveda gets to work.
That time you devoted to rewetting sponges, can now be allocated to smoking another cigar!
