What’s in Boveda?
If you’re new to using Boveda, you might be surprised when you feel one for the first time. A brand-new Boveda is pliable. Because the pack feels “squishy” new customers sometimes wonder if it “melted” in transit. Not so.
Not everyone is willing to share their secret recipe, but sharing is caring. Inside Boveda you’ll find purified water, natural salts and odorless food grade thickener, commonly used in salad dressing. Yes, salad dressing.
Then it’s all sealed in a leakproof membrane. Hardening of the corners is normal.
See, the purified water-vapor flows in-and-out from the Boveda to either absorb or add moisture depending on the needs for 2-way humidity control.
As you use Boveda, the pack will begin to harden. A simple touch test will tell you when it’s time to replace your Boveda—there will be fewer “squishy” spots and more hard ones.
